Zjakki Willems has worked for the radio since 1975, starting with his weekly broadcast "Club Tropical" (African and caribbean popular music) in 1984, and with "Cucamonga" (magazine about rock, blues and world music), in 1993. He was co-founder of the EBU World Music Workshop in 1987. He has recorded hundreds of world music concerts and festivals for VRT. Since 2016 he is freelancing for VRT and various radios.
