Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown has been the Senior journalist, DJ and producer of a weekly music programme "World Tracks", on Radio France International (RFI) since 1997. From 2007 onwards he has been responsible for a two-hour afternoon show that combines the latest releases from the World Music Charts, with on-the-ground reports on the world music scene globally, exchanges with musicians in the RFI studios and extracts of live concerts from festivals worldwide. Since 2004 he is editor-in-chief of www.mondomix.com in English. This Paris-based website is regarded as one of the top in its field.Brown is also vice-chair of Freemuse, the Danish-based NGO that defends musicians’human rights worldwide. He wrote « Rap and Censorship in France » for the book « Shoot the Singer ». Finally, in 2007, he was appointed by Liverpool’s International Slavery Museum as consultant for the Music Desk. This is the world’s biggest structure devoted to the transatlantic slave trade, to be opened on August 23rd 2007. Brown was responsible for the music content (400 annotated songs), and wrote-produced a 12-part audiovisual series on the musical genres that came out of slavery.
