Heritage

Interpreter: Richard Bona & Mandekan Kubano
Label: Qwest Records/Membran
Location: Cameroun /USA

At the crossroads of jazz, funk and pop music the bass genius with a great voice from (originally) Cameroon celebrates Afro-Cuban music in perfection and with his special gentle touch of soul. The record has a few highly recommendable salsa-dancefloor killers, with a strong frontman who doesn't perform in a macho mode at all. 'Heritage' comes as an unexpected shift in style and image - in particular for all those who didn't notice that Richard Bona worked with Tito Puente (besides Herbie Hancock, Paul Simon, Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin and other greats).
