Algerian Chaâbi singer Dahmane El Harrachi composed ‘Ya Rayah’, a tune covered by such rai royalty as Rachid Taha, Cheb Khaled and Faudel. He died in a car crash in Algeria in 1980 and now his son Kamel, similar in both looks and voice to his father, continues the family tradition with this homage to his father. No breaking with tradition, but a solid collection of tunes nonetheless, including his father’s ‘greatest hit’ ‘Ya Rayah’.
