Lazy, insistent rhythms from the powerhouse of Afro-beat, newly re-invented as friend of British pop royalty, not that you can tell it from this outing, which is as close to his blueprint as anything else he’s ever done. Rocking brass, polyrhythmic percussion and chanted vocals, existing in a weird time-warp in an alternative universe in which Fela Kuti is still packing them in the aisles.
