Loxandra aim to bring Greek and Turkish songs from the last century and the final days of the Ottoman empire to a modern audience. The 20th century upheavals in Turkey and Greece resulted in the disappearance of Anatolian urban song; Loxandra attempt to redress the balance with this fine recording of a selection of some of the finest tunes and rhythms of the region.
