Home-made percussion, a battered Casio keyboard and some frenetic singing and dancing make Jagwa Music Dar Es Salaam's hottest young band. Termed Afro-punk by some, referring more to the DIY ethic to any musical inspiration, it's street music, played by band members who work the streets of Tanzania's teeming capital. Produced by the Konono No. 1 and Staff Benda Bilil team, it's a radical sound produced by young musicians using what they have (or don't have) and turning it to their considerable advantage.
